Who are you ~ Who do you want to become (04/28/2012)
... Becoming different requires editing, subtraction, focus. We become dissimilar by focusing on our distinctive and authentic parts. True, we’re not blank slates. Our genes determine our appearance and have a big say in many other matters. As we grow up, our parents and family influence how we behave, think, and think of ourselves....
The role that habit plays ~ The highest payoff habits (04/18/2012)
... A few great habits are vital because without continuous renewal we can lose things we’ve worked very hard for. It doesn’t matter, for example, how intense a fitness program is — after a month of inactivity all the benefits will be gone. Why work hard for nothing, when a few habits that become second nature can give you a healthy rhythm every day? We get more reward with less energy if we adopt rewarding habits earlier rather than later. But also, given human nature, we’d better be selective about the good habits we’re going to adopt. We get more happiness with less effort if we carefully select a few excellent habits we’d like to have and master these, not bothering about all the other good habits we could in theory cultivate....
Illusions of an Addict (01/03/2012)
... Individuals typically do not seek out a life marred by substance abuse; therefore, it is crucial to understand the exact situation(s) which led to the abuse to allow for a better understanding of why he or she has an addiction. Life is a rollercoaster, filled with both moments of unhappiness and happiness. It is a fact that each of us will experience suffering in a greater or lesser degree than others. It is in this suffering that we discover our personal strength; however, many seek the temporary sense of strength that drugs and alcohol provide. Many difficult situations and perspectives lead to addiction such as: divorce, marital issues, financial difficulties, death of a loved one, illness, stress, anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, caring for a loved one who is ill or elderly, stressful work environment, unresolved childhood issues, abuse, and behavioral problems with one's children....

Honesty For Better Clarity (09/04/2011)
... When you practice consciously using more of your brain, instead of less, you begin utilizing more of your God given potential and honesty is easier to express as well. Relationships suffer greater over the issue of honesty than any other. In relationships, agreements are established, whether expressed or implied, that presume that honesty will be maintained. When deceit, disloyalty, secretiveness, false promises, half truths and the habit of saying one thing and doing something else enter a friendship or a love relationship, real clarity about any genuine feelings is immediately jeopardized. Trust is shaken, and reasoning is skewed....
It is critical that you develop a clear and succinct vision for your life (06/21/2011)
... Helen Keller who was born blind and deaf, said, "The greatest tragedy to befall a person is to have sight but lack vision". What is a vision? A vision is a preferred future. It is a clear mental picture of what could be. What is your vision? What do you see yourself doing in the future? As a university or college student, I urge you to dream big. Begin to elevate the picture of your future....
Your attitude determines your altitude (09/10/2010)
... At one of the low points in my own life, I had developed a “who cares, what’s the use” attitude. I felt that I was stuck where I was because of circumstances outside my control and blamed the world for my conditions. I figured I was at the bottom, so why even care? The problem is, as I learned through a lot of emotional pain, that there are always lower bottoms to which we can sink. As my attitude continued to be negative and blaming, my situation worsened. Only when I was willing to take responsibility for my life, stop blaming and look for what little good remained, was I able to begin to turn this situation around....
Personality and Physical Activity (02/08/2010)
... Therefore, it is appropriate to learn to relax, be cautious about overdoing exercise, and be engaged in more relatively noncompetitive activities. If, on the other hand, you are a Type B person (easygoing, nonaggressive, "laid-back"), you may need more stimulation and motivation to begin and continue an exercise program. Anger Evidence points to a relationship between anger and CHD. If you keep anger bottled up inside rather than expressing it (e.g....

... The Universe, on the other hand, has access to not only all of the experiences you have had but all of the experiences that everyone who has ever lived and who live now have had. It has access to all laws in existence, both known and unknown. It has access to every particle of every substance, visible and invisible, that has ever been or that ever will be. It knows how to do anything and everything, for it has already created every thing that has been created. The problem with attempting to predict a course of events to bring your desires into your experience is that you are in essence tell the Universe that you are changing the object of your focus, therefore, your are changing your goal to your act of predicting and the act of predicting produces nothing you desire....

Introduction to Meditation (11/22/2008)
... In fact, more and more people who aren’t necessarily religious get into meditation. People practice meditation for a variety of reasons. While we already mentioned that it helps us become still in this fast-paced world, other people meditate for health reasons and to attain a higher state of consciousness, among others. So if you think that life is stressing you out, it’s probably time for you to slow things down a little bit. Your mind is probably too distracted with so many things to consider and to think about....
What is Heel Pain (10/23/2008)
... The pain may not be immediately noteworthy, but it can progress causing extreme soreness and discomfort. Heel pain is most often exacerbated shortly after getting out of bed, primarily because sudden pressure on the foot may aggravate it after it had been immobilized during the night. Heel pain can go away during the day, but frequent, consistent pain shouldn’t be ignored and may require a thorough examination by a physician. What causes Heel Pain? When plantar fascitis, or a heel spur causes heel pain, it will most definitely require attention. The plantar fascia is a broad band of fibrous tissue, which runs along the bottom surface of the foot, from the heel to the toes....
Panic Attacks (07/23/2008)
... Lloyd Watkins our head therapist who alongside specialising in helping panic attack sufferers, teaches TFT to the exacting standards required by the NHS, said recently “its great news that the NHSTA have at long last recognised the benefits of TFT. This will now lead the way to wider exposure of this fantastic method and hopefully open the door to it eventually becoming available in hospitals and clinics throughout the country; something long overdue.” When a person first starts suffering the effects of panic attacks, they often do not know what is happening to them. Literally hundreds of people attend Accident and Emergency departments of Hospitals around the world daily, Fortunately, such therapy types are now available in the UK, albeit only via private treatment, as even though the NHS Trusts Association (NHSTS) have now officially recognized the value of modern therapies such as Thought Field Therapy .....
Law of Attraction (07/23/2008)
... I personally think focusing on winning the lottery is a fruitless event. Focusing on winning the lottery is kind of like focusing on "not having." I say this because of some discussions I've had with those who have held this desire, they have shared what they would do with the winnings if they won. Yet, some of the things they say they would do with the money they could actually already be doing with their current incomes on a smaller scale, but they don't. Why not? They cling to what they perceive as their "meager savings" with the attitude that they don't have enough out of fear....
Action Efficiency (07/23/2008)
... If you act inefficiently everyday, you can never get rich; while if everyday is efficient, you will most certainly get rich. If there is something that you can do today, and you do not do it, you have failed as far as that thing is concerned; and the results may be more disastrous than you imagined. You can not see the results for even the smallest act; you do not know the workings that have been set moving on your behalf. Much could depend on you doing some simple act; it could be the very thing that can open the door of opportunity to very great possibilities. You'll never know all the combinations that Infinite Intelligence has for you in the world; your neglect or failure to do some small thing may cause a long delay in getting what you desire....
How Thoughts Create Things (07/23/2008)
... Some people are fortunate enough to be in a career where they pursue their passion each and every day. These are the people who love going to work. Let's face it. If you hate what you're doing all day, it's tough to have a positive attitude. For the purpose of this course, I'm concentrating on areas where you take an active role....
What is Fear (07/23/2008)
... What Causes Fear? While it is important to be aware of potential and real threats, it is as important to react appropriately to them. For most of us, our initial startle response calms as soon as we realize that there is no actual threat or danger. There are many for who fear became maladaptive, because of this they struggle with anxiety, phobias and panic attacks. What forms do fears take? Anger management: 7 steps to solve the anger problem (04/12/2008)
... Possible symptoms of anger problem include getting angry frequently, for relatively trivial reasons, getting violent or shouting madly when angry, and most importantly feeling out of control and deep down, helpless, when angry. 2. Be willing to solve it: This is a crucial step with which I struggled the most, like the majority. They feel (as did I) that their anger is justified, and the people with who they are angry should “pay for what they have done.” Problem arises in changing this mindset because, this is often true....
The adulthood of emotions displayed by SQ individuals (11/30/2007)
... This is a fascinating study, but not the focus of this article. The second method is to evoke the feelings of the emotion and appraise them. This involves training that allows us to manage the emotion (very much the focus of psychotherapy) and establish control over it by our cognitive faculties working on the stimulus. The classical options for managing our emotional life are either to work from our IQ or to work by evoking our EQ and exercise our cognitive faculties on the process. I would suggest there is a third way that is more rigorous and more demanding but infinitely more enhancing....
